Video of alleged cruelty in Victoria park goes viral
Posted by David Reynolds | September 4th, 2019A video of alleged animal cruelty has emerged online.
The 40-second clip, which was posted on Tuesday morning showing what looks like a man dragging a dog and spitting on it, was allegedly taken on Swansea Street in Victoria Park.
Within an hour, thousands of people commented on and shared the video, which the original poster said they had also shared with the RSPCA.
RSPCA WA chief inspector Amanda Swift said a number of complaints had been made about the footage.
“RSPCA WA would like to talk to the man in the video about the way he appears to be treating his dog,” she said.

Thousands of people have reacted to this video, posted to Facebook on Tuesday, saying it was filmed in Victoria Park showing what looks like a man dragging a dog.
“What we have seen is certainly concerning to us and it is not the way we expect, or the community expects, to see animals treated.”
Some of the comments on social media are too graphic to publish, but many have called the man in the video names, called for violence against him and speculated the dog was injured.
The RSPCA said video footage can help during their investigations but urged people who see what they think is animal cruelty to contact them directly, instead of posting online.
“If people see something they don’t think is right, as in this case today, video footage and photos can help inspectors to follow up with people who may be doing the wrong thing,” Ms Swift said.
“However, we don’t want to see anyone putting their life, or the lives of others, at risk in doing so.”
