Fishing

Many people believe that fishing is not cruel because fish are unintelligent but fish are intelligent animals that also feel pain like any other animal. There are many things that we have discovered about fish that disprove this common belief such as fish being able to avoid fishing nets by watching other fish in there group.

Another aspect about fishing that we have to remember is also the environmental aspect fish live in polluted water that most humans would never think of drinking. The fishing boats that travel though this polluted water drag nets behind them not only collect the fish for eating but they can also collect the coral habitat.

Crustaceans

Crustaceans are often boiled alive for cooking this is a slow and painful death for them. Imagine being placed into a pot of water as it slowly heats up to a boiling point its going to be painful they make this obvious to us by the fact that they splash around trying to escape from the water.

Whales

The killing of whales from whaling is bringing many whales into being endangered species. In 2006-2007 Japanese whalers plan to kill 50 humpback whales, 50 fin whales and 935 minke whales. Humpback whales are in the vulnerable to being endangered category and fin whales have already reached endangered levels.

Dolphins

Dolphins are incredibly intelligent animals that have the largest brain to body size of any living species second only to modern humans. Dolphins have the ability to remember past events in a similar manner to the great apes. It is increasingly clear that dolphins have interdependent relationships with family ties.

Every year in the months of October to April Japanese's fishermen conduct a dolphin hunt where they heard hundreds sometimes thousands of dolphins into shallow bays by using partly submerged rods that when banged on create a sonic barrier. Once they are in these bays they are caught in nets and hooked speared and hoisted in the air by there tails. The dolphins are then killed in a brutal manner often there guts and internal organs are removed from them while they are still alive.
