About PAWS

PAWS, People & Animal Welfare Society Inc is a non-government, not for profit organization with no religious affiliation and was established in April 2000.

Our Vision

The PAWS vision is a society wherein humans and animals can coexist peacefully without the threat of cruelty, exploitation or untimely death. PAWS envisions increasing numbers of ethically responsible people living with a deep sense of purpose for the betterment of society and the sustainability of our environment.

Our Mission

Our mission is to introduce and maintain projects that encourage environmental sustainability, sensible agriculture, community welfare and education, and that display harmonious and productive relationships between humans and animals thereby creating greater peace within society.

Our Objectives

To raise funds for worthy welfare causes, projects or organisations. The Association's Committee shall decide on which causes, projects or organisations are to be worthy of receiving aid from the Association. This shall be decided at monthly Association Committee meetings. Priority will be given to causes, organisations or projects, which are considered to be most effectively relieving the suffering (physical, emotional and mental) of humans and animals.
To emphasize that animals experience sadness, happiness, pain and other emotions which are equal in importance to those of humans.
To educate the public that animals experience suffering although they may not demonstrate the same intellect as humans do. And, that a limitation of humanity's wisdom is demonstrated by the denial of a pain free and healthy existence for animals.
All purposes and objectives of the Association must be achieved through non-violent means only. Association members are asked to maintain an attitude of kindness and compassion in their dealings within the association. This attitude is to be upheld at all times in both words and actions. Failure to adhere to this standard is reason for a Committee member to be expelled from the Association, regardless of their position, in accordance with rule 9.
The Association must exemplify kindness for all species of life. As a further objective, this Association must refrain from the attempt to persuade people to come to a more humane way of thinking by using fear-based statements or methods. For example, the association regards statements like: "We believe greater penalties should be imposed for the mistreatment of animals" as a threatening approach to attempt to stop animal abuse. These methods will not be tolerated in any way.
The Association seeks to achieve its purposes and objectives by raising public awareness with factual information. Its message must be conveyed with the use of kindness, patience and tolerance at all times. The Association shall support non-violence in the community, thereby preventing the perpetuation of unnecessary pain, negativity and fear, which the Association sees as the root of suffering in humans and animals alike.
The income of the Association shall be applied solely toward the promotion of the objectives and purposes of the association. No part of that property or income may be paid or otherwise distributed, directly or indirectly to members of the association except in good faith for the promotion of the objectives and purposes of the association.
